Indians: There is no entry formality for Indians to visit Andaman. But permissions are required from Deputy Commissioner, Andaman District, Port Blair to visit tribal areas.
Foreigners: The foreigners can stay in the islands for 30 days which can be extended for another 15 days with permission. The permission can be easily obtained from the Immigration Counter at Port Blair Airport or Harbour on production of the passport containing a valid Indian Visa.
As the climate is hot throughout the day it is advisable to use cotton garments instead of synthetic or nylon clothes.
For trekking it is best to wear the lighter boots as it gives more pleasure. Heavy boots tire you early.
Don’t forget to bring a pair of rubber thongs (hawai chappal) for all bathroom excursions & stony beaches.
Foreign nationals should not enter the Islands without required permit and also should obtain permit from the immigration authorities after landing in the islands
Visit only the permitted areas in the Islands
Do not enter the National parks without permission
Do not enter into restricted/tribal areas. Do not take video, film or photographs inside Tribal Reserve areas or of the indigenous tribes
While driving, follow the traffic rules, keep left. Carry legal documents like driving license, permit, passport, etc
Do not stay on the beaches or the forest areas during nights by putting up own tents/hammocks
Do not take video or film without permit, wherever such permits are required
Do not light fire in the forest areas
Keep the beaches and environment clean
Do not throw garbage and plastics in public places, beaches and into the sea
Dispose off the garbage and plastics at proper places/dustbins
Do not collect, destroy or remove any living or dead animal/plant. Do not hunt birds/animals
Nudity on beaches and public places is forbidden
Consult life guards before entering the sea. Swim in safe areas only
The sea is quite rough at times with dangerous undercurrents especially during the rainy season
The underground sea-floor level may not be even
Do not venture into deep waters because in an emergency rescue becomes difficult
Do consult the lifeguard on the beach before venturing into the water
Do not carry sea fans and seashells unless specific permits are obtained from the Fisheries department
Do not stand on the coral reef while snorkeling/Scuba diving
For Scuba Diving avail the service of Scuba Dive instructions having certification of international
Professional organizations like PADI, CMAS, NAUI, BSAC or SSI for safe diving experience
Do not venture into diving with unqualified/unregistered dive operator for the same may be dangerous to your life
Other than Passport, Visa, Identity Card, etc. some things are further essential to be brought in your luggage like: FIRST-AID KIT, NEWSPAPER, TORCH, SCISSOR, NAIL CLIPPER, UMBRELLA/SUNSCREEN etc.
